“The Memento” is a short story by O.Henry. When the story starts, Miss
D’Armande look at her best friend Miss Rosalie Ray’s picture. Miss Ray is a
very beautiful young woman. She is an actress. Every evening has a show for the
men in the theater. But Miss Ray suddenly left the theater and went to live in
the country. Lynette wants to know where Lee is. Then Lee goes to Lynette’s
room and tells Lynette this past three months what she did. Lee says “I met a
man and got married. We were very happy. I thought Arthur was different from
other men, he was a good man. However, when I opened his looked box, I saw my
yellow garter. Then I left him.”
